Cue Welcome Back Kotter Theme Song. Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Baaaaaack...
A lot happened since August, but some of the things still remain the same. For starters, I am still at the same company in the same position and still single. I tried to change both of my situations, honestly I did! Ms. Cranky did not spend the past seven or eight months simply idle! Nope, I followed my heart and threw caution to the wind and went after what I always wanted and I had my eyes on two prizes. Too bad, I failed miserably falling on my ass. Not only did I end up heartbroken, but two months later passed up for not one but two promotions! Ouch. So, did I pique your interest yet? Wait a minute! Are those violins playing in the back? Want to know why they are playing? What are you waiting for??!! Read on!
Months back I revealed that I had a crush on one of my friends, let's call him Shorty Doo Wop because obviously he's short. He only stands 5'8". Of course, I am not poking fun at my fellow vertical challenged brethren because I am barely 5'0" on a good day. Which we would make a cute bite sized couple, but that is besides the point. Well, he finally broke up with his girlfriend and we started to hang out more. We had a lot in common. We had similar interests, backgrounds, same social issues, eerily the same taste in music. Unfortunately, we did not have the same feelings for each other. After much courage, prodding from my friends and with a glimmer of hope, I finally asked him out. Only to be rejected with "I see you as a friend." Yep, that is what he said. After many times, I saw him nonchalantly staring at my ass, hips and tits. Yet, Shorty Doo Wop told me he saw me as a "friend". Gee, thanks. My "singledom" continues.
Moving on to my so-called professional life. I have been with my company for almost three years. Trust me with my track record, this is an accomplishment. I've been promoted already and now I've been in my current role for two years now. So, I wanted to move up the ranks in my company, but of course my hopes got dashed because, well, I don't have a penis. Yep, my boss is sexist. Why do I make such a bold statement? Well you do the math. My coworker got promoted to my department and we shared the same job title and after six months for doing far less work than I did and he eventually got promoted to a position that should have been mine! For two years, I mostly I busted my ass and did the work of two people, went above and beyond with my job duties, but in the end my hard work proved fruitless.
Our boss is fairly new. You see, our former boss resigned last summer and our most recent boss joined us past fall, let me refer to him as Kris Kringle. Why Kris Kringle? Because he has a white beard that resembles Kris Kringle's, he's older, archaic and is probably against Affirmative Action when it first started and probably still against it now. Anyway, I noticed that during our first meeting Kris Kringle, always addressed my coworker more than me. Huge red flag! When Kris Kringle had questions about what our job duites and basically what protocalls we followed, he always addressed my coworker first even though he had far less experience than me. You know, I must use a alias for my coworker, let's call him Boomhauer the character from the TV show King of The Hill because he mumbles and his lack of verbal skills renders him almost incomprehensible. Anywho, Kris Kringle took an instant liking to Boomhauler because not only do they have similar backgrounds, white, male, but are proven to be male chauvinist pigs. Bitter...nooooooo!
So, one of the two promotions was given to Boomhauer and the other promotion was given to, well, I will refer him to (Yep, surprise another male)as Yo Sammity Sam. Now, I like You Sammity Sam , but as you know from his nickname he has a little anger problem. When he gets mad he tends to yell, punch walls and slams various items on his desk. And you wonder why I didn't get either position? I WAS TOLD I WAS TOO SHY! Judging from this post or even this blog...I am not shy. Yep, a bullshit answer from a bullshit boss. The saga continues.
